How it works

How pet relocation works — from your first message to a safe arrival

You've probably never done this before. The permits, the airlines, the crate rules — it's a lot to hold, and it's easy to feel lost. Here's exactly what happens at every step, and exactly what we take care of for you.

No experience needed

You don't have to figure this out

Most people relocate a pet exactly once. You don't need to learn the import rules, chase the right forms, or work out which airline takes pets on your route — that's our job, and we've done it more than 2,000 times. Your part is mostly to love your pet and keep them calm. We handle the rest, and keep you posted the whole way.

The journey

What happens, step by step

Every relocation — moving abroad, coming home to India, or moving within the country — follows the same path. Here's the whole thing, and exactly who does what.

1

Talk to us — free, no pressure

One message starts everything.

We handle

Map your exact route, flag the long poles (like a rabies blood test), and give you an honest timeline and estimate — no obligation.

You

Send one WhatsApp or call. Tell us your pet, where you're moving from and to, and roughly when.

2

Your route plan

A plan built around your pet, your route and your dates.

We handle

Build a document checklist specific to your destination and pet, with every date worked backward from your move.

You

Look it over and confirm. From here, you mostly just wait for our prompts.

3

We prepare everything

The paperwork and the medical prep — handled in parallel.

We handle

The government side — import permit, NOCs, export and health certificates — plus the medical prep through our vet network: ISO microchip, rabies and core vaccines, the rabies titer where your route needs it, parasite treatment and the fit-to-fly certificate, each correctly timed.

You

Take your pet to the vet visits we book. We tell you exactly when, and what each one is for. That's the bulk of your involvement.

Permits and vet prep run at the same time, not one after the other — and this is usually the longest phase. How long depends entirely on your route; you'll find exact timing on your route page.

4

The IATA crate & getting travel-ready

The right crate is the backbone of a calm, safe flight.

We handle

Source the correctly-sized, IATA-compliant crate for your pet and guide the acclimatization so they travel calm, not scared.

You

Let your pet get used to the crate at home over a couple of weeks — we show you exactly how.

5

Travel day

The day you've been preparing for — and the day we carry the load.

We handle

Collect your pet in our vehicle, a trained handler stays with them through check-in and hands them to the airline's ground crew. WhatsApp updates the whole way — often with a photo.

You

Say a calm goodbye. We take it from there.

To be clear: the handler doesn't fly in the hold with your pet — no one does — but your pet is never left to navigate the airport alone, and our partner is waiting at the other end.

6

Safe arrival, then home

Received, cleared, and delivered to the door.

We handle

Our partner receives your pet the moment they land, clears customs and AQCS inspection, manages quarantine only where the route requires it, and delivers to your door (or hands them straight to you).

You

Be ready for the reunion.

The part people worry about most

A trained person stays with your pet

On travel day, a trained FidoJet handler collects your pet and stays with them right through airport check-in — calm, familiar, unhurried. They hand your pet to the airline's ground crew, and our partner is waiting to receive them the moment they land.

To be clear: the handler doesn't fly in the hold with your pet — no one does — but your pet is never left to navigate a strange airport alone.

And you're never in the dark. We send WhatsApp updates the whole way — often with a photo of your pet, safe and settled.

Timing

When should you start?

The single most useful thing you can do is start early. Some routes need months of lead time — mostly because of a rabies blood test and a fixed waiting period — while others move in weeks. A rough guide:

~6–12 months
Australia, New Zealand, JapanRabies titer plus long mandatory waits. Australia is the longest — a staged route through an approved country — so it's the one to plan furthest ahead.
~4 months
UK & EURabies titer plus a fixed three-month wait from the blood-sample date.
~2 months
UAE & much of the GulfPermit and titer required, but no long post-test wait.
Weeks
Most returns to IndiaThe easier direction — no titer to enter, no long quarantine for returning residents.
Days–weeks
Domestic moves within IndiaBy road, rail or air, depending on distance and your pet.
These are honest ballparks — your exact timeline depends on your route and your pet. We'll give you precise dates on day one. See your route page for specifics, and don't worry if you're already short on time: we work with tight deadlines often.

Questions

Common questions

How long does the whole process take?
It depends almost entirely on your destination. Some routes — Australia, New Zealand, Japan — need around six to twelve months because of a rabies blood test and a fixed waiting period. The UK and EU run about four months. The UAE and much of the Gulf can be done in roughly two months. Returns to India and domestic moves are often weeks. We give you a precise timeline for your exact route on day one.
Do I need to be there when my pet flies?
No. Many of our clients have already moved ahead of their pet. A trained handler collects your pet, stays with them through check-in and hands them to the airline; our partner receives them on arrival and delivers them to you or your representative. You do not need to be on the same flight, or even in the same country.
Is my pet safe travelling in cargo?
Yes. The pet area of the hold is pressurised, temperature-controlled and dimmed — it is a separate, climate-managed compartment, not the open luggage bay people imagine. Your pet travels in a correctly-sized, IATA-compliant crate they have been acclimatised to. On many routes, manifest cargo is also the only legal way for a pet to enter the country.
Who actually handles the import permits and paperwork?
We do — the entire regulatory chain. Import permits, no-objection certificates, export and health certificates, AQCS coordination: we prepare and lodge them on the right timeline. Your only paperwork is signing where we tell you and keeping the documents together, which we guide you through.
What if my pet is a snub-nosed breed (like a pug or bulldog)?
Snub-nosed (brachycephalic) breeds need extra care — some airlines restrict or will not carry them in the hold, especially in warmer months. It is very route- and airline-specific, so we plan carriers, timing and sometimes cabin options carefully around your pet. Tell us the breed early and we will map a safe path.
Can my pet fly in the cabin with someone?
Only on a small number of routes and airlines, usually for small pets under a weight limit, in an approved carrier. Most international relocations travel as manifest cargo — and on many routes that is the only legal option. We will tell you honestly whether a cabin option exists for your specific route.
How much does pet relocation cost?
It varies with your route, your pet size and crate, the airline, and what is required — permits, titer, quarantine. Rather than quote a misleading number, we give you a clear, itemised estimate after a quick conversation, and we map the cost honestly for your exact route.
Do you handle both ends — departure and arrival?
Yes. We handle it door to door, both ends — we collect from your home, manage departure, and our overseas partners receive your pet, clear customs and inspection, manage quarantine where it applies, and deliver to the destination address. One accountable team across the whole journey.
